Post a move-out
Posting a move-out changes a resident’s status from Notice or Evict to Past and updates their resident history records.
NOTE: When posting a move-out, all roommates are moved out along with the resident. If you only need to move out a roommate while the primary resident remains in the unit, you can manage the move-out from the Roommates screen on the resident record.
Before you begin
The resident must be on Notice for Move Out options to appear on their record. You can perform a move-out from the resident record or the Agent dashboard.
How to do it
From the resident record:
Open the resident record whose move-out you want to post:
If the product is Voyager 8 or CRM IQ, use Global search or the Agent dashboards to find the resident.
From the left-side menu, select General > Manage. The Manage screen appears.
Click the Manage dropdown menu and select Move Out. The Move Out screen appears.
Click Save.
From the Agent dashboard:
Open the Agent dashboard:
If the product is Voyager 8 or CRM IQ: From the top menu select Leasing > Agent.
On the Residents tab, click on the Needs Move Out row. The list will display the residents who are pending move out.
In the row of the resident you want to move out, under the Next Step column, click Move Out.
Click Save.
TIP: If a resident is moving out before the end of the month, you can calculate the prorated amount by using the Prorate Calculator. You can find it in the top menu by clicking on the Prorate Calculator icon next to the Calendar icon. Complete the prompts and click Calculate to see the prorated rent.
After you finish
The resident status updates from Notice or Evict to Past.
After you post a resident’s move-out, you should post Deposit Accounting. Deposit accounting reconciles the tenant’s security deposits with any outstanding charges or prepayments, and ensures that refunds and charges are properly managed.
Adjust a move-out
Adjusting a move-out gives the option to update Notice and Move out dates, the agent in charge, as well as the reason of the move-out.
Before you begin
The resident must be on Notice for the Adjust Move Out Dates button to appear on their record.
How to do it
Open the resident record whose move-out you want to adjust:
If the product is Voyager 8 or CRM IQ, use Global search or the Agent dashboards to find the resident.
From the left-side menu, select General > Manage. The Manage screen appears.
Click the Adjust Move Out Dates button. The Adjust Move-Out screen appears.
Complete the screen and then click Adjust.
After you finish
Please note that this function has no effect on the actual move-out process. After the dates have been updated, posting the move-out should still be done following the steps above.
Cancel a move-out
Canceling a move-out changes a resident’s status from Past to Notice and updates the appropriate resident and resident history records. This function may be used when the resident changes their mind and wants to stay in the unit or renew their lease.
Before you begin
You will need access to the following permission: Resident-Cancel_Move_Out.
How to do it
From the resident record:
Open the resident record whose move-out you want to cancel:
If the product is Voyager 8 or CRM IQ, use Global search or the Agent dashboards to find the resident.
From the left-side menu, select General > Manage. The Manage screen appears.
Click the Manage dropdown menu and select Cancel Move Out. The Cancel Move Out screen appears.
Click Cancel Move Out.
After you finish
The resident status changes from Past to Notice.
After you cancel a resident’s move-out, each resident’s situation should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. As their status is currently Notice, if they wish to stay in the unit, the notice can be cancelled.
