Update Person Tax Info

How to update Person Tax Info to add or change 1099-related data the IRS IRIS (Information Returns Intake System) requires. DOES NOT APPLY UNTIL THE 2027 TAX-FILING SEASON.

Updated over a week ago

You use Update Person Tax Info to add or change 1099-related data the IRS IRIS (Information Returns Intake System) requires.

IRIS is a newer IRS system for filing tax data electronically. It replaces FIRE (Filing Information Returns Electronically). Yardi will use IRIS to file 1099 data starting during the 2027 filing season, for the 2026 tax year.

To support IRIS, Yardi added name fields (Suffix, Tax First Name, Tax Middle Name, Tax Last Name), address fields (Address Line 1, Address Line 2, Country, City, State, ZIP), and a field for specifying whether the recipient uses a Social Security Number for their tax ID.

The new fields apply only to tax filings; they do not change what appears when you view the records for recipients (vendors, owners, tenants and so on) on other screens. You complete these fields only when the name or address associated with the recipient's tax ID differs from the information in their vendor, owner, or tenant record. For example, if a recipient's business address appears in their vendor record, but their tax ID is associated with a home address.

NOTE: A difference between a recipient's vendor, owner, or tenant record and their tax ID information doesn't necessarily mean you should use Update Person Tax Info. If the data applies only to 1099 filing, use Update Person Tax Info; if it applies in other situations, change the primary record.

You specify the tax ID type only if it is not an Employer Identification Number (EIN). Voyager assumes recipients use an EIN. If they instead use a Social Security Number (SSN) or Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), use Update Person Tax Info to specify that.

To add 1099-specific information to a recipient record

  1. Select 1099 Utilities > Update Person Tax Info.

  2. Complete the filter and select Display. A list of recipients appears.

  3. In the row for the recipient for whom you want to add 1099-specific tax information, select the Edit button (looks like a pencil).

  4. Complete the Edit Person Tax Info screen.

  5. Select Save.
